15th Anniversary of Fallout!

On NMA (No Mutants Allowed) I was told today is the 15th Anniversary of Fallout...
Here is what they had to say :
Fallout's birthday is a bit hard to peg. Wikipedia says 30 September but as is so often the case with wiki, this is completely unfounded. According to the original website, the "silver" date is 1 October, and it was in stores in North America by 7 October, so take either one as the anniversary date.

Nothing new for its 15th, just a good waypoint to commemorate. Go back to check out the 10th anniversary releases if you never have before.

Wasteland Weekend 2012

Wasteland Weekend 2012 has come to a close as of a few days ago,
I look forward to seeing how this years celebration in the wasteland
turned out...

Some pictures of the 'Atomic Cafe' were shown in this blog post : Here
It looks like a damn fun time!

The apocalypse seems to be on everyone’s minds these days. Whether it’s a Mayan countdown, an economic meltdown, or a zombie hoedown, people are prepping for it, stressing about it, or watching movies about it. There are countless books and websites popping up telling you how to create an evacuation plan, what to pack in your bugout bag, and what type of scattergun or machete is best for defending your cache of dehydrated biscuits. But few people seem to be asking the most important question of all:  On the day after, where will you go for a drink?
Ill post more highlights of this past years even as they come up...
in the meantime watch these vids, and tell me that doesnt look like
a damn fun time!

Here are some Videos of Last years events

Setting Fallout 4 Pt 2

California Literary Review has posted another blog talking in great
detail over the location of Fallout 4. This Article wades the the brahmin shit
covered streets of the USA to talk about locations other than the
 alleged Boston Rumors.
...what I’m discussing today is nothing short of pure, unadulterated (but hopefully still informed) speculation! The time-honored tradition of fans everywhere! Looking at something we enjoy far too much and saying, “What if this were to happen next?”
Talking in detail on locations ranging from New Orleans
(New New Orleans?) All the way to New Jersey (New New Jersey?)
even the grand old country of Texas... This is a great read, well written,
and smart (more smary, but you get the idea)

On New Jersey : Actually, if the plot centers on a G.E.C.K. gone wrong, where a “Garden of Eden” in the Garden State mutates out of control? That’s not too bad; it could even steal some of the thunder from The Last of Us. You also get literal Jersey Devils of course, and we get to see the cast of The Jersey Shore mutate further thanks to radiation . . .
Check out the Whole Articlein the links below... and Check out
the first one too... They are a fun read!

Nuka Cola... Or How I quenched my wasteland thirst.

Many times I have seen people that made their own Nuka-Cola bottles...
And I thought... "Why on Earth do I not have those littered around my apartment"
So I decided to take a few hours, and do it myself...

Here is the last example that inspired me:

After doing a quick google search I found that someone had already made
sheets of these labels for print. (see below for the link)
So I went down to Kinko's printed them out, and slapped some on a couple
of empty Mexican Coke bottle... The results were pretty great!

Next time I might give making my own label a try....
And maybe try roughing the glass up a bit with some sand paper or the like.
Either way, I look forward to doing this BEFORE I drink the damn things!
And for sure work on getting my hands on some caps!

Wasteland 2 Update

An update by Brian Fargo was been posted, apologizing for the dead air, and says he intends to post more updates in the near future.

From the update :
  • It has been some time since I have posted a blog here and I apologize for the delay. I need to do a better job of communicating my thoughts and ideas as that is a part of the process I know people are interested in. I have been very focused on getting the first pass at all the writing complete by October. The thing that is most critical in creating a deep and re-playable experience is for us to have plenty of iteration time on the game. There is simply no substitute for allowing plenty of time for us to play the game over and over thus allowing us to hone in on the things that people are going try in the world. A wonderfully written script is not valuable if it is delivered too far into the development process. This game is going to be much deeper than most people realize and I will go out on a limb to say it is nearly impossible for two people to have the same experience playing through the game as there are so many nuanced decisions. The caliber of writing is very impressive and for those who wanted an M rated experience… you will be more than satisfied. We don’t pull any punches on the subject matters of a dark post apocalyptic world. My attitude is that if you going into a genre that has expectations then GO THERE.. all the way. It is for the same reasons I tend to love all the great shows and writing that I find on Showtime and HBO and find myself turned off by the material on network television. I don’t like to see pandering to a mass audience for my TV shows and I certainly won’t allow this game to soften up a rough world.
