The New Barbarians

I found a post-apoc movie that I have never seen before.
I was searching for something fun, and horrible to watch...
I am about ten minutes in, and am delighted to find out there is a Rifftrax entitled : Warriors of the Wasteland...
I look forward to seeing that...
This is a cheesy thrill ride!

So here it is...
The full version of the movie via the Youtube.

Description :

Nuka Cola... Or How I quenched my wasteland thirst.

Many times I have seen people that made their own Nuka-Cola bottles...
And I thought... "Why on Earth do I not have those littered around my apartment"
So I decided to take a few hours, and do it myself...

Here is the last example that inspired me:

After doing a quick google search I found that someone had already made
sheets of these labels for print. (see below for the link)
So I went down to Kinko's printed them out, and slapped some on a couple
of empty Mexican Coke bottle... The results were pretty great!

Next time I might give making my own label a try....
And maybe try roughing the glass up a bit with some sand paper or the like.
Either way, I look forward to doing this BEFORE I drink the damn things!
And for sure work on getting my hands on some caps!

Wasteland 2 Update

An update by Brian Fargo was been posted, apologizing for the dead air, and says he intends to post more updates in the near future.

From the update :
  • It has been some time since I have posted a blog here and I apologize for the delay. I need to do a better job of communicating my thoughts and ideas as that is a part of the process I know people are interested in. I have been very focused on getting the first pass at all the writing complete by October. The thing that is most critical in creating a deep and re-playable experience is for us to have plenty of iteration time on the game. There is simply no substitute for allowing plenty of time for us to play the game over and over thus allowing us to hone in on the things that people are going try in the world. A wonderfully written script is not valuable if it is delivered too far into the development process. This game is going to be much deeper than most people realize and I will go out on a limb to say it is nearly impossible for two people to have the same experience playing through the game as there are so many nuanced decisions. The caliber of writing is very impressive and for those who wanted an M rated experience… you will be more than satisfied. We don’t pull any punches on the subject matters of a dark post apocalyptic world. My attitude is that if you going into a genre that has expectations then GO THERE.. all the way. It is for the same reasons I tend to love all the great shows and writing that I find on Showtime and HBO and find myself turned off by the material on network television. I don’t like to see pandering to a mass audience for my TV shows and I certainly won’t allow this game to soften up a rough world.

Mask 365 - 'Kicked' Up Post Apoc Style

 MASK 365

This guy has some amazing stuff on his site, It embodies an amazing element of recycling,
namely turning Nike shoes and turning them into inventive gas masks.

Each one is different, and it holds an amazing unique quality that the shoes
themselves once possessed. He transforms them, but allows them to maintain
their own individuality.

I think what this guy is doing is great.
It shows a sleek, and streamlined urban "post apoc" feel.
And although they may not be functional, or anything you would
EVER see in an apocalyptic world.... they sure are a great and welcomed
art in the modern world. Check out some info about the artist below!

Summarized Bio (Taken from his Site) : Freehand Profit is a Los Angeles based artist who earned his name as a graffiti artist in DC and Northern Virginia. In 2005 he graduated Corcoran College of Art & Design with a BA in Fine Arts. Since then he’s rooted himself in LA’s Hip-Hop scene and has been working to forget what he learned in art school and make work without the pretentiousness that all too often accompanies “good” art.
